98 Jersey restaurants and cafés label gluten-free or NGCI dishes on SafePlate. Find them by parish and cuisine, plus what to ask before you order.

    SafePlate · Published

In short: 98 of the venues on SafePlate label at least one food dish gluten free (GF) or as having no gluten-containing ingredients (NGCI). Most are in St Helier (49) and St Brelade (22). Look for GF over NGCI if you're coeliac, and always ask how the dish is cooked.

Old forum threads will tell you Jersey is hard work for coeliacs. The menus say otherwise. Below are the venues where gluten-free goes beyond a side salad, grouped by area, with the dishes they label and the label they use.

GF or NGCI: which label you're looking at

    • GF means the venue says the dish is gluten free. Under UK and EU rules that means 20 parts per million or less.
    • NGCI means no gluten-containing ingredients, with no promise about cross-contamination. Ask how it's prepared.

The full explanation is in our guide to eating out with coeliac disease in Jersey.

    Frequently asked questions

Where can I get gluten-free pizza in Jersey?

PizzaExpress (St Helier and St Brelade) and Pizza Quarter at Bel Royal both list a dedicated gluten-free pizza range.

Can I get gluten-free fish and chips in Jersey?

A few venues label fish and chips NGCI, including Jersey Crab Shack. NGCI makes no fryer promise, so ask whether the batter is gluten free and the fryer separate.

Which Jersey restaurants have the most gluten-free options?

On SafePlate's data, Indian Ocean, Old Station Café, Greenhills Country House and Oyster Box label the most GF or NGCI dishes.

Is GF the same as coeliac-safe?

GF is the stronger claim. Neither label guarantees a separate kitchen, so tell staff you're coeliac.

Data from SafePlate's directory, October 2026. Menus change, so always confirm with the venue, especially if you have coeliac disease.
