Vegan restaurants in Jersey: where to eat plant-based
Where to get a proper vegan meal in Jersey, not just chips and a side salad. Vegan mains, Sunday roasts, desserts and what to ask staff.
SafePlate · Published
In short: 92 venues on SafePlate label at least one vegan dish, but far fewer offer a proper vegan main. This guide picks out the places where you get a full plate: curries, tofu, Wellingtons, tacos and pizza. It also covers vegan Sunday roasts and desserts.
"Vegan-friendly" too often means chips, a side salad and a bread roll. If you've ever paid full price for a plate of sides, this list is for you. Every dish below is labelled vegan by the venue itself.
One thing for visitors: older guides still list The Sinful Vegan, which closed in February 2024. We don't currently list a fully vegan restaurant in Jersey, so the places below are mixed menus with genuine vegan mains.
Proper vegan mains
- Izakaya (St Helier, Japanese): miso-blackened tofu steaks (£17.50), a vegan massaman curry (£17.50), poke (£14.50) and vegan gyoza.
- Longueville Manor (St Saviour, fine dining): a baked vegetable Wellington, vegetable tart fine and griddled local aubergine with lentil dahl on the dinner menu.
- The Portelet Inn (St Brelade, pub): a vegan curry (£17.95), vegan pie, vegan pizza (£16.95) and vegan salad bowl (£16.95).
- Noya Shapla (St Brelade, Indian/Bangladeshi): vegetable versions of its balti, karahi, chilli masala and more, all labelled vegan.
- The Goose (St Peter, pub): grilled artichoke risotto with vegan Parmesan, and a vegan mezze plate built around roast cauliflower steak.
- The Square (St Helier): mushroom shawarma flatbread, and salt-baked carrots with smoked Jersey Royals and cashew cream.
- La Hacienda Mexican Cantina (St Helier): spiced pulled mushroom tacos (£11.95) with rice and beans.
- Off The Rails (St Brelade): The Goodboy vegan burger (£14).
- Pizza Quarter, Bel Royal (St Lawrence): vegan pizzas with vegan cheese from £8.65, also available on a gluten-free base.
- Awabi (St Helier): hot and sour aubergine (£8), kimchi pancake (£10) and smacked Jersey cucumber (£6). These are small plates, so order a few.
Vegan Sunday roast
- White Horse Pub & Dining (St Saviour): roasted butternut squash, lentil and kale Wellington with mushroom gravy.
- Longueville Manor: roast garden vegetables with chickpeas and grilled tofu on the Sunday lunch menu.
Vegan breakfast
The full list is in our vegan breakfast guide. Two from the data worth knowing:
- The Good Egg Beach Café (St Clement): The Vegan Brekkie (£13), plus a vegan breakfast wrap and a Soul Bowl (£13.50).
- The Beach Club: in St Brelade, a vegan breakfast with plant-based sausages, crushed avocado and hash brown (£13.25).
Vegan desserts and cakes
- Flour Patisserie (St Helier): vegan cupcakes (£4) and whole vegan celebration cakes, including Biscoff and Black Forest (from £40).
- Longueville Manor: vegan chocolate cheesecake with orange sorbet (£16).
- Ocean Restaurant (St Brelade): dark chocolate mousse with raspberry sorbet (£13).
- La Brise (St Brelade): vegan spiced carrot cake.
- Greenhills Country House (St Peter): a vegan afternoon tea (£30, 2.30pm to 5pm) with scones and vegan cream, berry tartlets, and carrot cake, chocolate tiffin and lemon loaf that are also gluten free.
What to ask, even when it says vegan
Labels go wrong. A vegan dish arriving with butter is one of the most common complaints from vegans eating out. Worth checking:
- Butter and ghee on vegetables, bread and curries.
- Stock and gravy: is it vegetable-based?
- Hidden animal ingredients: fish sauce, anchovy, egg in pasta or pizza dough, honey, and Parmesan (made with animal rennet).
- Shared fryers and grills, if that matters to you.
- Allergies: "vegan" isn't an allergen guarantee. Vegan dishes can still be cross-contaminated with milk or egg.
